Turns out you can do it all! Krystyna Resavy, our incredible choreographer for Swingtime Canteen and director of the Spotlight Gala, has been commuting back and forth from New York to assist with Ragtime’s Tony Performance! 🏆
“What a difference a year makes!
Last July, while rehearsing for Annie at Sharon Playhouse, I was in the application/interview process for the Mike Ockrent Fellowship, awarded by the Stage Director and Choreographer’s Foundation. This fellowship is in honor of late Broadway director Mike Ockrent, and would offer me the opportunity to assist (now Tony nominee!) Ellenore Scott on the Broadway revival of Ragtime at Lincoln Center Theater. I was so excited to learn that I was the recipient during my dinner break of tech for Annie.
Now cut to eleven months later — I’m back at Sharon directing and choreographing their annual Spotlight Gala and choreographing Swingtime Canteen, while also traveling back and forth to New York so that I can assist Ellenore in setting Ragtime’s performance and opening number feature for the Tony Awards. Talk about a double duty of my dreams! I became well acquainted with the Metro North, and am grateful to Carl and the team for being so accommodating with my hectic schedule. I was able to assist in rehearsals, camera blocking, and dress rehearsal, as well as celebrate with my Ragtime family when we won Best Revival. I will cherish this experience forever!”
