MUCH GRATITUDE TO OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS FOR SUPPORTING THE SHARON WOMAN’S CLUB’S FANTASTIC BAKE AND SOUP SALE. THE SALE WAS SCHEDULED FROM 9AM UNTIL 1PM BUT WAS SOLD OUT BY

AN AWESOME GESTURE OF GENEROSITY FROM THE SHARON WOMAN’S CLUB MEMBERSHIP 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Every autumn the Rocky Hill Veterans’ Facility reaches out to the SWC with their annual Holiday Wish List. The club receives 20 Secret Santa cards with a special request from a specific veteran. The asks can be as simple as a Motown CD or a brand name of lotion. In addition we receive a general wish list of items that a veteran has expressed a desire for. Once again our membership has fulfilled all the Secret Santa wishes and in addition with monetary donations the club was able to purchase the following:
4 men Henley style shirts, 2 men polo style shirts, 2 T-shirts men, 3 T-shirts women, 4 women gym shorts, 3 men gym shorts, 4 men lounge /sleep pants, 1 women lounge/sleep pant, 3 men hooded sweatshirts, 3 women hooded sweatshirt, 5 pairs of men’s pants, 1 Yankees tee shirt, 3 boxes of 3 men tshirts (the ones you wear under your shirt), 1 soft Scarf, 9 pairs of diabetic socks, 3 men leather belts, 3 ball caps, 3 big calendars, 3 wireless headphones, 2 plush blankets, 1 Axe body spray, 8 body washes, 2 polident dentures cleaners, 6 boxes of tissue, 2 bags of HD laundry pods,
8 deodorants, 2 mouthwashes, Electric rechargeable razor, Claw clasp suspenders, Large digital block, 2 $15 gift cards Dunkin’ Donuts, and
1 $20 gift card to Stop and Shop.

The HES assessment is a comprehensive home energy evaluation offered through the Energize CT program for Connecticut homeowners to identify energy-saving opportunities, improve home comfort, and reduce energy bills.

A certified technician conducts a thorough inspection, including a safety check, air leak testing with a blower door, duct sealing, installation of basic weatherization measures like low-flow showerheads and air sealing, and a Home Energy Score.

The program provides a detailed report of findings and recommendations for deeper energy upgrades, along with information on available rebates and financing options. While HES assessments traditionally have a nominal co-pay, income-eligible homeowners can often receive the service at no cost.

CROP WALK 2025

It's time for the CROP Hunger Walk again this year. But there's something new and different! We'll be having One Big Walk like we used to do before the pandemic.

The walk this year is on Sunday, September 28. Sign in at 1:00 PM and the walk begins at 1:30 PM. The walk begins at Salisbury Congregational Church and we will walk the rail trail to Lakeville and back. No need to walk the whole thing! Just do the amount of walking that you'd like.

You may remember that 25% of the money raised in this walk stays right here in our community, and 75% goes to help flood, hurricane, and fire victims here in the USA, and hungry people around the world.

Last year our walk raised $37,524 and $9,380 stayed right here in the NW Corner. We donated a large portion of this to local food banks, and pastors in their churches wrote vouchers to people in need who come through our doors. Before retirement this year I gave vouchers to about 12 people. This allows them to go to Stop and Shop and get much needed groceries.

I'll tell you more in my announcement at our meeting on September 18 and, meanwhile, we have a team page set up and you can go and sign up to walk and/or give a donation at any time. (Your information is never given to any other organization.)
