There are some dogs who spend months waiting for their forever family.

Then there are dogs like Basil 💕

Basil came to Furry Flights to Freedom looking for a home, but somewhere along the way, he quietly became part of ours. Around here, we joke that he wasn't overlooked - he was simply meant to become a Furry Flights to Freedom Sanctuary Dog.

He has made himself quite comfortable with that arrangement. 😍

He's the first one to greet us, the first one to make us laugh, and the first one to remind us that every single day is meant to be enjoyed. If you've met Basil, you know exactly what I mean.

A week ago, our world changed. 😢

After emergency surgery, Basil was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive splenic cancer. The good news is that his scans show no evidence of spread today, and he's recovered beautifully from surgery. He still runs, plays, demands attention, and enjoys every sunny afternoon like nothing has changed.

After consulting with his oncology team, we've decided to give him every reasonable chance we can. His doctors have recommended a course of chemotherapy that they believe offers him the best opportunity for more quality time.

His treatment plan is estimated to cost approximately $5,200, and we've attached the estimate in the comments for anyone who would like to see exactly what it includes. The estimate is for the initial chemotherapy treatment and the follow-up treatments (there are four additional).

As a rescue, we're used to saying yes to dogs who need us. This time, we're asking for a little help ourselves.

If Basil has ever made you smile, if you've followed his story, or if you simply believe every good dog deserves as many good days as possible, would you consider donating or sharing his fundraiser?

Every dollar goes directly toward Basil's treatment. Every share helps his story reach someone new.

More than anything, we're hoping to buy him what he loves most: more walks, more treats, more naps in the sunshine, more squeaky toys, and more days surrounded by the people who love him. We're not ready to say goodbye to this sweet boy.

Thank you for helping us give Basil more sunny days. ❤️❤️

He was hit by a car… and left there.

No one stopped. No one helped.
Just another black street dog in Texas, trying to survive.

Now his name is **Floyd**

And somehow - he’s still fighting.

Floyd was found with a fractured femur, in pain, unable to walk.
But thanks to an incredible street rescuer named Monica and a committed foster, he’s getting the surgery he needs to heal.

The cost? **$892 total.**
(Here in the Northeast, this would easily be $5,000+)

💔 This is the part where dogs like Floyd usually get left behind.
🩺 This is also the part where a small group of people can completely change the outcome.

Floyd didn’t get a choice in what happened to him.
But we get a choice in what happens next.

If you've ever believed a dog deserved a chance...

Please consider donating toward Floyd’s surgery.

Every dollar gets him closer to walking again.
Closer to a pain-free life.
Closer to the home he’s never had.

Even if you can’t donate, sharing helps more than you know!

Let’s make sure getting hit by a car isn’t how Floyd’s story ends.
