May’s training is focused on auto extrication.

Group 3 members have been fortunate to have time on shift to work on cars involved in MVAs using skills including forcing doors and modified dash rolls. These skills allow crews to gain access to patients in real world scenarios to provide emergency medical care.

We are excited to announce the acceptance of the SAFER grant!

At last night’s Select Board meeting, the Board voted to accept the SAFER Grant Award, which will fund the hiring of eight additional firefighters for the Town of Sharon.

Prehospital Antibiotics for Sepsis Patients 🚨

The Sharon Fire Department is proud to announce that we are one of the pioneers in the area to launch our new prehospital antibiotic protocol, effective TODAY—a major step forward in the early treatment of sepsis and the fight against time-sensitive infection-related mortality.

🔬 What’s New?
Due to changes in our MA Statewide Treatment Protocols, the SFD can administer antibiotics in the field, bringing lifesaving treatment directly to patients before they arrive at the hospital.

💡 Why This Matters:
Reduces time to first-dose antibiotics
Improves survival and recovery outcomes
Bridges a critical gap in early sepsis care
Empowers our prehospital teams with enhanced tools to save lives

This launch is the result of close collaboration between our emergency medicine, infectious disease, EMS, and pharmacy teams, all working together with a single goal: to provide better, faster care for our patients.
