Seward Community Health Center used SCF grant funding to purchase a new EKG machine, helping restore reliable onsite cardiac diagnostic services for local patients.

The Seward Community Health Center is grateful to have received a grant from the Seward Community Foundation to purchase a new EKG machine and restore reliable onsite cardiac diagnostic services for our patients.

EKGs are an essential diagnostic tool that helps providers quickly evaluate symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, and irregular heart rhythms. Thanks to this funding, SCHC can continue providing timely, high-quality care right here in Seward, reducing delays, minimizing the need for outside referrals, and making healthcare more convenient for our community.

This new equipment will help patients receive important diagnostic testing during a single visit whenever possible, improving patient safety, continuity of care, and access to local healthcare.

This grant is possible through the support of the Seward Community Foundation, an Affiliate of The Alaska Community Foundation.

Seward Heavy Industrial Power is stepping up as our September Business Matchmaker, matching every donation made to the Seward Community Foundation dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.

The STSC wants to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the athletes, coaches, parents, community members and volunteers who made this year’s Seward Tsunami Swim Camp & Swim Like a Fish Pentathlon Invitational so special!

We’re so grateful for the laughter, hard work, encouragement, and memories made. It truly takes a village, and we’re so thankful for ours!

We would also like to thank Leslie for all of her hard work organizing these events, and for all the things she does behind the scenes for our club! This last week really rocked!!

Coming this October: Nourished Communities Grant Opportunity

Have an idea that could improve local food security?

Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits and equivalent charitable organizations serving Seward and Moose Pass may apply for up to $5,000 for qualifying food security projects and programs.

Organizations do not need to focus exclusively on food security, but the proposed project must directly address a local food security need. Projects might include community meals, food distribution, school food programs, community gardens, food preservation, or other efforts that improve access to nutritious food.

Applications will be accepted October 1–31, 2026.

This special grant opportunity includes a 2:1 match made possible through the Alaska Community Foundation’s Nourished Communities Initiative.

We love seeing these new soccer goals already being put to good use!

A big shout out to Seward Parks & Recreation for all of the incredible programs, events, and recreational opportunities they’ve hosted this summer. SCF is happy to have helped support this soccer program, and we’re excited to see these goals used by local kids for many summers to come.
