Hope Walks Here at Mat-Su College!💙🏃♀️➡️
We wear beads to honor our loved ones we’ve lost, the ones who are silently struggling, and our personal journeys. 🫂💙
On Saturday I got to volunteer for for their Mat-Su College Campus walk— an Out of the Dark fundraiser that AFSP does with campuses in order to raise awareness for su***de prevention. I am so thankful we were blessed with a beautiful and sunny day outside! I am over the moon for these awesome people who put this together and how incredibly strong each individual is who walked! I learned more about Senate Bill 41, the process of becoming a su;c;de prevention speaker, and the significance of wearing beads during an Out of the Darkness walk.💙
Mental health recovery is not a linear path: there are ups and downs, and most importantly, we continue to have bad days alongside most human beings. With the right education and trained listening skills that come from a deep sense of compassion, individuals, friends, groups, and establishments are able to understand and handle an individual in a mental health crisis. Your life is valued and so are your peers! It is important that you are equipped and prepared to listen and recommend the appropriate resources. Choose life, and it will love you back🏃♀️➡️💙🫂
ALSO shoutout Ashlyn Cruise for making me this amazing jacket as a fundraiser for her AHA fund! It kept me warm in the Alaskan breeze 💙
