Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Imagination Library is a free book gifting program that mails high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth until age five.

In 1995, Dolly Parton launched an exciting new effort to benefit the children of her home county in east Tennessee. Dolly wanted to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by giving each child one free, age-appropriate book per month from birth to age 5. The program has seen phenomenal success, now gifting over 3 million free books each month, with over 240 million free books delivered throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland since its inception.

Across five countries, thousands of Local Program Partners are working in their communities every day to make Dolly’s dream possible—raising funds, building support and helping children receive a free, high-quality book every month from birth to age 5.

That’s what it means to Give Like Dolly.

It’s not about how much you give. It’s about finding a way to help. A donation. Sharing a story. Encouraging a friend to get involved. When we give from the heart, we can make a difference in the lives of children right where we live.

Dolly believed that when you’re in a position to help, you should help. She gave generously, dreamed big for children and spent her life finding ways to make a difference in the lives of others.

Today, we’re carrying that spirit forward.
