Supporting good, clean, and fair food in Sonoma County — that’s what we’re all about. 🐌

The Slow Food Snail of Approval highlights food service establishments (restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, etc.), farms, ranches, artisan producers, and food organizations making a meaningful contribution to our local food system. These businesses prioritize local and seasonal ingredients, support regional farmers and producers, care for their employees, use environmentally responsible practices, and give back as strong community partners.

We’re proud to celebrate the people helping build a more sustainable, connected, and delicious Sonoma County food community.

These snails aren’t the escargot variety. Instead, their red and white trail leads to the most thoughtful food around Sonoma County.

Sad news indeed...

Sad news indeed...

A longtime champion of thoughtful eating, Carlo Petrini founded the Slow Food movement 40 years ago in Italy. Sonoma County became an early adopter.

The Importance of Slow Food in Improving Nutrition

In this webinar, presenters from the Food & Farm Policy team will review how the field of nutrition has shifted over the past year and implications for our broader food system. We will focus on the newest Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) as a case study. We will review their content, process for revision, and potential implications for both consumers and producers. We also plan to facilitate discussion among audience members' about how the revised DGAs may impact their work as well as opportunities to engage in continued advocacy.

Jimmy Nardello Piperade is sweet, savory, and proof that heritage seeds make the best food. This classic preparation lets the pepper shine—tender onions, garlic, thyme, and a hit of umami from anchovy (or skip it for a vegan version).
Perfect with fish. Perfect on toast. Perfect straight from the pan.
Share your recipes on this pepper or any of our 2026 heritage seeds.
