Join us in congratulating Keiden Carlos and Carlos Martinez, who were selected through a competitive artist selection process to create design concepts for a new public art installation at the Rainier Beach Light Rail Station Plaza.

RBAC, in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation and Sound Transit, launched this public art initiative to transform two bike lockers into vibrant works of art that reflect the spirit and creativity of the neighborhood.

At our Walk the Block Party, community members had the opportunity to view the artists’ design proposals and cast their votes for their favorite concepts, helping determine what will become a colorful new gateway into Rainier Beach.

This project is about more than beautifying public space—it’s about celebrating community voice, creativity, and neighborhood pride. Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for the 3rd Annual Rainier Beach Walk the Block Party!

What an incredible day of community, music, art, food, and connection. Seeing neighbors, families, artists, performers, vendors, volunteers, and partners come together to celebrate Rainier Beach reminded us of the strength and beauty of our community.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their talents, supported local businesses, and helped create a welcoming space for all. Your energy, joy, and commitment to community are what make Walk the Block so special.

Voting will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Winners will be announced at 2:15 p.m.

Today, Councilmember Rhonda Lewis presented the MLK Medal of Distinguished Service to Gregory Davis of the Rainer Beach Action Coalition (RBAC). RBAC is a place-based, black-led, non-profit rooted in stewarding the Rainier Beach Neighborhood Plan. RBAC has had a historical presence in the neighborhood for nearly two decades, and has developed a variety of programs catered to young adults in the Southend. Congratulations to Gregory Davis!
