Tomorrow is the day!

We’re celebrating 23 years of the Rainier Beach Back2School Bash tomorrow, and we want you to be ready! Here’s your first look at our Family Mobile Guide, featuring the event schedule, field layout, Back2School Passport instructions, kids’ activities, family resources, and more—all right from your phone!

Join us for free backpacks filled with school supplies, food, family resources, activities, music, community performances, our Unsung Heroes Awards Ceremony, and plenty of fun!

Last year, our volunteers showed up and helped us get hundreds of backpacks packed, organized, and ready for Rainier Beach students—and tomorrow, we’re doing it again!

Join us for our Back2School Bash Backpack Assembly & Volunteer Info Session as we prepare for the 23rd Annual Rainier Beach Back2School Bash.

There’s still time to be part of it! Whether you’ve already signed up or you’re just hearing about it, it’s never too late to volunteer.

Here is a recap of our last Rainier Beach Farmers Market Pop-Up!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Mapes Creek Walkway on July 28, and a special thank you to our amazing vendors for bringing fresh produce, local goods, resources, and community connection to Rainier Beach.

Our next Rainier Beach Farmers Market is Tuesday, August 25, at 52nd Ave S Festival Street, just east of Safeway. We hope to see you there!

The countdown is on for the 23rd Annual Back2School Bash on Saturday, August 22, and we’re looking for community members to help make this event a memorable experience for hundreds of local students and families!

Whether you can help before the event or on the day of, we’d love to have you on our volunteer team. Join us for our Volunteer Backpack Assembly & Information Session on Saturday, August 8, at the Rainier Beach Food Innovation Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You’ll help assemble backpacks, learn about volunteer opportunities, and get everything you need to prepare for event day.

Today, we’re bringing together our staff, residents, and partners for an important conversation about the future of Rose Street and Rainier Beach. Hear directly from Empowering Youth and Family Outreach (EYFO), learn about the current challenges affecting the neighborhood, and help identify real solutions that can make an immediate impact.

Our monthly Rainier Beach Farmers Market returns Tuesday, July 28, from 3:00–7:00 p.m. on Mapes Creek Walkway (S Henderson Street), and we’re excited to welcome another incredible lineup of local farmers and community partners.

This month’s featured vendors include:

• Sidhu Farms – Naturally grown berries and seasonal produce from a family farm committed to sustainable growing practices.

• Heu’s Blooms and Greens – Fresh flowers, locally grown produce, and specialty farm offerings from a beloved local grower.

• Tilth Alliance – Stop by to learn about gardening, local food systems, and resources that help grow healthy communities.

• City Fruit – Learn how City Fruit works to harvest and share fresh fruit while building a more equitable and sustainable local food system.

• Ekuvuneni Farm – Shop fresh, locally grown produce from one of the BIPOC farms helping nourish our community.

Whether you’re shopping for fresh produce, picking up plants, connecting with community organizations, or simply enjoying an afternoon in Rainier Beach, there’s something for everyone.

Starting in August, the market will move to 52nd Ave South Festival Street, located just east of Safeway, for the remainder of the season.
