Cheers to 30 years! TAF launched in 1996 with a simple goal: to increase the pipeline of students of color into STEM careers. Meet the Dot Net Divas from 2002!

Willette, Dalen, My, and Miya were Technical Teens Internship Program (TTIP) students and high school seniors headed to college when TAF hired them for a summer internship. Their mission was to move TAF's volunteer tracking and donor system from Microsoft Access to SQL Server using .NET. They came in as interns and left as a team.

Years later, Miya and Willette even ended up working together again at Intel.

"It's nice to come full circle." 💛

Aaron Ho joined TAF Academy in 6th grade, following in his older sister's footsteps, and graduated from TAF@Saghalie in 2020. Project-based learning gave him ownership of his education (including convincing a teacher to let his class write and perform an original rap instead of taking a test). After earning his Informatics degree at the University of Washington and mentoring young coders, Aaron came back to TAF.

TAF turns 30 this year, and we're kicking off by looking back at where it all began.

In our early years, TAF called a little storefront in Columbia City home. It's where our first team got to work, and where students could come after school. Thirty years later, we're rooted in White Center, still growing alongside the students and families we serve.
