📣 APC applications are OPEN!

Want to better understand how education policy works and how you can engage in the decisions affecting students, families, and our communities?

The Advocacy & Policy Cohorts bring community leaders together to learn, ask questions, share experiences, and build practical advocacy skills.

We’ll dig into school budgets, decision-making, public testimony, media, youth power, racial equity, and more, with local leaders and advocates joining us along the way.

✨ Priority deadline: September 1, 2026
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the cohort and waitlist are full.

🤝 THE M O & U: Partnerships at SPS

An MOU is more than a document. It can be a tool for building stronger, clearer, and more intentional partnerships.

This coalition meeting is a chance to connect with fellow partners, work through questions, and think together about how we can strengthen the relationships that support our students and communities.

We’ll make room for connection, collaboration, and community building along the way. 💛

⚽ The World Cup in Seattle has wrapped up, and in our July blog, we ask: how can we honor and acknowledge the indigenous foundations the city is built upon and continues to grow from?

Games are played on indigenous land. Team owners have made their wealth off indigenous land. Stadiums are built through the funneling of money that can be traced to the erasure of indigenous peoples.

The upcoming wealth or Millionaires tax reform could be a start. The conditions that current taxation systems help perpetuate inequities in schooling for marginalized communities, including urban native students and families. Expansion of the Since Time Immemorial learning (STI) in Washington and SPS is another opportunity to acknowledge, honor, and ground indigenous foundations of this country through education
