Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! / !Feliz Dia de los Pueblos Indígenas!

Earlier this year, Lake City was chosen as one of three Low-Pollution Neighborhoods, a pilot program led by Seattle Dept of Transportation
There is an opportunity to learn more about it and provide ideas during their Open House tomorrow Tuesday, October 13th at 5pm, downstairs the Elliot Bay Brewing restaurant in Lake City.

Today was the last date of our summer Tianguis this year.
With this picture of flowers harvested from our garden today, we want to thank all of you who supported us throughout the season.
Together, we created countless stories, formed lasting friendships, and—most importantly—built a stronger community.

LCC values every student that ever visits our center. We strive to offer them a meaningful and impactful experience no matter how short or long their stay is.

Recently, two Lakeside School students who were familiar with LCC recommended Mr. Jesper Kow, owner of GoeBits Mac/PC Repair to donate laptops to our organization. We’re talking about dozens of devices that they diligently checked and set up during their valuable summer break to get them ready for us!

We’re very thankful to Brian and James for thinking of us and the hours & hours of dedicated work they put on them. A special thanks to Mr. Kow for donating these laptops, your contribution will greatly boost our digital literacy efforts.

El cielo se está despejando y ¡ya estamos listos para ver el partido el domingo!
Invitados importantes se unirán a la fiesta, entre ellos King County Elections.
Familia, este año es un año electoral muy importante para Washington, especialmente para el norte de Seattle, así que si eres o conoces a un ciudadano estadounidense mayor de 18 años les recomendamos DE VERAS que vengan a nuestra fiesta y completen su registro de votante. ¡El último día se acerca!

Pantalla GIGANTE, ambiente familiar (no alcohol), música, exhibición comunitaria de piñatas y mega piñata (hecha con verdadera devoción, vean el avance), mercado, distribución de mochilas, y sentido de pertenencia, el verdadero espíritu del futbol.

10am: Cascarita de futbol para niños(as).
12pm: La final del mundial
2pm: Música y piñata

We welcome Jessie Prutisto-Chang to the Collective!
Jessie is completing her practicum through UW Public Health and helping us advance our goal of improving access to healthy food in our community. We greatly appreciate the opportunity for mutual learning through her program.
Here is a brief bio about her:

“I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Seattle after finishing my BA in Environmental Studies from Vassar. As a public health graduate student, I’m interested in studying the connections between place and health at the community level, identifying resource gaps, and improving equitable access to the resources that communities need to thrive. I also play in the local synth rock band Art Gecko on the side!
P.S. We have a new song out, which you can find on Spotify (or if you don’t use Spotify, it should be on virtually every other platform out there too!).”
