Pottery Northwest Our Mission: To inspire and educate an inclusive community centered in clay. A dedicated glaze area stocks a full complement of materials.

Pottery Northwest is a professional clay facility comprising 7200 square feet in an early 1900’s brick building at Seattle Center with an adjoining outdoor kiln yard. Our equipment includes potter’s wheels, a slab roller, an extruder, a spray booth with compressor, clay mixer, and various workshop tools (saws, grinders, etc.). We have both electric and gas fired kilns, including soda and raku kilns and – a wood-fired pizza oven. We have recently upgraded our studio heating and lighting systems and added air filtration. There are a variety of semiprivate spaces available for residents. Residents have 24 hour access to the studio.

We are moving Pottery Northwest to a new home. 🧡

Natural light. Kilns at full power. Room to welcome even more of you in. For years we worked out of a basement with no windows and no hot water. You are helping us change that.

Thank you to everyone who has given to the relocation campaign so far.

We will keep sharing updates as the move progresses. We cannot wait to welcome you into the new space.

Take a look inside our new home in South Lake Union. 👀

Natural light. A street floor studio that brings better visibility to our artists and their work. The ability to bring back gas kiln programming. Free parking for PNW students and staff so parking costs aren’t a barrier to taking a class. After years in a windowless basement, our community finally gets the space it deserves.

We’re looking for someone organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and equally comfortable with behind-the-scenes coordination and welcoming customer service. Pottery Northwest is moving.

For years we made this work happen in a basement studio with no windows, no hot water, and kilns we could only run at partial power. Our community grew into something remarkable anyway.

Our new home in South Lake Union changes everything:

🔹 Street level space with visibility to promote our artists
🔹 Gas lines so we can bring back our gas kiln programming.
🔹 Windows so we have natural light
🔹 Free parking for students and staff

This move lets us grow our free youth programming, expand scholarships, and welcome even more people into the studio.

We believe that ceramic and art should be accessible to everyone. From our community events to scholarships, we strive to open the door to clay, community, and creativity for people who may not otherwise feel like they belong in ceramics.

2025 was a big year. 🧡

We could not have done it without you.

Here is what we built together:

🔹 2,700 people enrolled in our programs and classes
🔹 We awarded $165,000 in scholarships to make ceramics accessible
🔹 We ran 16 free and reduced cost youth sessions and reached 277 young people
🔹 We hosted 39 low cost community nights, including Black Community Clay Night, Trans Clay Night, and Noche Latina, in partnership with Northwest Immigrant Rights Project ARTE NOIR and Lambert House

Pottery Northwest is more than a studio. It is a place to create, connect, and belong.
