Everstrong (formerly StolenYouth) is building a national model for change that empowers young people with the knowledge to protect themselves. Our mission is to end child s*x trafficking in Washington state. We believe in working together for sustainable and system-wide change in our community. Founded in 2012, StolenYouth annually raises money for our innovative coalition of highly effective loca

l organizations. This coalition brings together the strengths of direct service, policy development and prevention education.

You wouldn't teach a kid to swim by dropping them in the deep end. You also wouldn't keep them out of the water, then hand them a life jacket one day and hope for the best. 🌊

So why do we treat digital safety so differently?

The best thing we can give kids isn't more information, it's skills: connection, communication, critical thinking. The kind that work whether they're online or off, in the shallow end or the deep end.

The internet doesn't come with a lifeguard. Parental controls can keep them afloat, but they won't teach them to swim. Our new guide, Navigating Uncharted Waters, gives parents practical tools for building trust, open conversation, and lasting safety skills with their child. Everstrong is building better resources to prevent s*xual exploitation and trafficking, and that starts with understanding what teens are actually seeing and experiencing today. Not what adults assume is happening. What's real.

This survey was designed by our summer intern Addie, a rising junior, because we believe youth voice should shape the work we do, not just be an afterthought.

Your answers are anonymous, take just a few minutes, and directly inform how we build our next round of prevention tools.

Completing the survey is also how you can be considered for our upcoming focus group, a chance to help shape our work even more directly.

We teach kids fire safety before there's ever a fire. Water safety before they're ever alone near a pool.

So why wait until after a child is exploited to talk about trafficking?

At Everstrong, we treat this as a public health issue, not a law enforcement one. And public health problems share one thing: they're preventable.

Kids can learn, before they need it, how grooming works, what a healthy relationship looks like, and who to go to if something feels off.

When kids have that knowledge early, and adults know how to talk about it, communities get stronger and harm gets prevented.

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

The numbers are hard to hold: 3.3 million children affected by trafficking globally. Up to 325,000 children in the U.S. considered high risk. And 61% of youth report being approached online by an adult seeking to exploit them. The internet didn't create this problem, but it has made it faster, wider, and harder to see coming.

Here's what we know works: prevention. Young people who can recognize warning signs, question harmful norms, and know how to speak up are exactly what prevention looks like in practice.

That's why we built the Everstrong Prevention Portal: free lessons, activities, and guides for educators, families, and communities, organized by topic, grade level, and audience. Everything from "Understanding Trafficking: The Basics" to a parent's guide to Roblox to a family tech agreement template, and more.

Prevention isn't one conversation. It's a whole portal of them, ready whenever you need it.
