Seattle has come a long way when it comes to biking.
Over the past 15 years, we’ve gone from celebrating Seattle’s first neighborhood greenway to being able to ride from the Ship Canal Trail to the waterfront and all the way to Alki without mixing with car traffic.
Those improvements didn’t happen by accident. They happened because neighbors, advocates, and community members organized, showed up, and pushed for safer streets.
In a new guest post for Seattle Bike Blog, Clara reflects on how far Seattle’s bike network has come, the critical gaps that still need to be connected, and what comes next under a new administration.
It’s a thoughtful look at the progress we’ve made and the work still ahead to build a bike network that works for everyone.
