Squidward came to us on May 27, 2025 from the Faithful Friends Barn Cat Program. His journey before arriving here was not an easy one.
Originally taken in on April 14, 2023 by Andy's Cat Rescue, Squidward was suffering from an elevated white blood cell count and multiple bite wounds on his front legs and around his head. It was also discovered that he could not fully extend his right hip due to what was believed to be a previous fracture.
Squidward was referred for surgery and underwent a Femoral Head and Neck Removal (FHO) procedure at Providence Animal Center. This surgery removes the head of the femur to help restore mobility and reduce pain in the hip joint. After recovery, he was transferred to the Faithful Friends Barn Cat Program due to aggressive behavior.
Thankfully, Faithful Friends reached out to us, knowing that we often take in barn cats with complicated pasts and strong personalities.
When Squidward arrived at Feral Feline Society, we saw something different in him β not aggression, but a cat who had simply been through a lot.
Within two weeks, Squidward began to relax, trust, and show his true personality. Today, he is one of our largest cats, but now that he feels safe and loved, he has the gentle personality of a tiny mouse.
On Saturday June 13, 2026 we gave Squidward the gift of retirement in our home. He struggled to jump and interact in our cat room in ways our other feline friends could. He has learned to trust us on so many levels and deserved this transition to the next level of happiness with our rescue!
