🌊 Hempstead Harbor got a lot cleaner on Saturday!

A huge 💙 THANK YOU to our incredible Coastal Cleanup volunteers!

In just two hours, you helped remove:
🗑️ Hundreds of pounds of garbage
🚬 473 cigarette butts
♻️ 2,000+ tiny pieces of foam, plastic & glass that wildlife can mistake for food

And you did it across three Hempstead Harbor beaches! 🙌

Every piece makes a difference. Thank you for showing up for our harbor! 🌊🐚

🌊 Help us make a difference this September along Hempstead Harbor THIS SATURDAY! 🌊

Join CSHH on September 19 from 9–11 AM for the International Coastal Cleanup!
Since 1992, CSHH volunteers have been part of this global effort, coming together each year to remove hundreds of pounds of debris from more than a mile of Hempstead Harbor coastline.

But this cleanup is about more than what we take off the beaches. Every piece of debris is documented, and that data is shared with , and as part of the world’s largest database on coastal debris. Researchers use this information to better understand coastal pollution and help protect fragile marine ecosystems. 🌎💙

Come be part of the tradition! Bring your friends, gloves, and a smile—and spend just a few hours making a real difference for our harbor.

Make an evening of it in Sea Cliff TONIGHT! 🌊

On Wednesday, September 16, stop by the Sea Cliff Arts Council between 6–8 PM to explore CSHH’s 40th Anniversary Exhibit before it closes later this month.

On view since early August, the exhibit brings together historic images, important moments from CSHH’s history, and a look at work continuing today.

Come before or after your al fresco dinner in Sea Cliff to spend a little time with 40 years of local harbor history.

SummerFest 2026 is a joyful day on and around the water, with kayaks, live music, crafts, tie-dye, and eco-tours by boat, all inspired by the beauty of the harbor and the community that surrounds it. 🩵

For 40 years, has worked to protect, advocate for, and connect people to this special place we’re lucky to call home.
