SCA is an organization that promotes the hands-on learning of quality constructed costumes to everyone in the community. We invite anyone over the age of 8 of any experience level to join our group! t of at least 6 workshops that focus on skills such as: sewing all stretch knit and lightweight fabrics (Action Spandex); working with foam, thermoplastic, and other materials for armor (Body Armor); and sewing all mid-weight and heavyweight non-stretch fabrics (Durable Clothing). They range from beginner to complex techniques, are focused on different costume pieces, and are scheduled for eight hours so you can complete an entire piece during that time. At our location, members have spacious workstations and access to equipment and supplies like sewing machines, power tools, scrap materials, other consumables, etc. Celebration days are a way for members to show off their newly made costumes and offer a family friendly event to allow kids, teens, and adults to meet new people and recruit potential members. They are themed for Superheroes, Medieval Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and much more! They ALL include games, crafts, music, Costume Parades, and more! Movie premiere attendances are hosted by the Royal Cinemas IMax Theater in Pooler, and we always promote a film with our costumes themed to go with it. Convention Appearances are rare since we only market to people in the local area, and these are often scheduled either rarely, or not in accordance with our other events. When we do have a convention appearance, we run them similar to a Movie Premiere, just not with a specific theme for the costumes.
