SAVE THE DATE! The 2027 Great Adirondack Birding Celebration is coming June 4–6, 2027!

And we have some exciting news: for the first time in the festival’s 24-year history, the Celebration will be headquartered at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake!

The new location puts us in a perfect spot for a weekend of exploring the incredible birds and habitats of the Adirondack Park — with plenty of space to gather and downtown Saranac Lake just minutes away.

You can look forward to:

• Expertly guided birding trips
• Inspiring presentations
• Hands-on workshops
• Opportunities to connect with birders from near and far

Whether you’ve been birding for decades or are just getting started, we’d love to have you join us.

Join us for fall birding at Point Au Roche!

Spend a September morning exploring Point Au Roche State Park with Northern New York Audubon on Saturday, September 19 at 9:00 AM.

We’ll walk through shrubby and forested habitats on our way to Long Point and its panoramic views of Lake Champlain. Along the way, we’ll keep an eye out for songbirds, waterbirds, and other fall visitors!

The route follows gently sloping grassy, rocky, and dirt paths. Trails may be muddy depending on the weather, so come prepared for the conditions.

Bird Lake Alice WMA with us!

Join Northern New York Audubon and the Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department on Wednesday, September 2, at 9:00 AM for a morning outing at Lake Alice Wildlife Management Area in West Chazy.

Nearly 150 bird species have been recorded at this Clinton County hotspot! With open water, marsh, fields, shrub meadow, and mixed forest, Lake Alice offers plenty of habitat to explore. In September, we’ll be looking for both resident birds and fall migrants.

Explore one of the Adirondacks' most beautiful boreal forests with Northern New York Audubon!

Join guide Joan Collins for a 2.5-mile hike along the historic Roosevelt Truck Trail in Minerva, where we'll search for boreal birds like the Black-backed Woodpecker, Canada Jay, and Boreal Chickadee while keeping an eye out for moose and black bear tracks. August also brings an incredible display of mushrooms and lichens throughout the forest.

Whether you're an experienced birder or simply love spending time outdoors, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience a unique Adirondack ecosystem.

Discover some of the Adirondacks' premier birding habitat with Northern New York Audubon!

Join us for a guided birding excursion through the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area, with stops along Route 30, Little Tupper Lake, Sabattis Bog, and more. We'll be on the lookout for breeding warblers, Canada Jays, Black-backed Woodpeckers, Olive-sided Flycatchers, and many other boreal specialties.

If time allows, we'll wrap up with lunch and birding at the Tupper Lake Marsh viewing deck in search of Sandhill Cranes and other marsh birds.

Start your morning with birds, beautiful views, and the shores of Lake Champlain this weekend!

Join Northern New York Audubon for a guided bird walk along Long Point, where we'll explore a variety of forested and shrubby habitats before reaching breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Champlain. Along the way, we'll be on the lookout for songbirds, waterbirds, and whatever other wildlife makes an appearance.

The walk is approximately 2 miles round trip on gently sloping grassy, rocky, and dirt trails. (Be prepared for a few muddy spots depending on recent weather!)

Celebrate National Black Birders Week in the Adirondacks!

Join Northern NY Audubon and other community partners for a special evening honoring Black voices in birding and conservation. As part of the Adirondack Black Birders Week Celebration, we’re excited to welcome renowned ornithologist, naturalist, and author Dr. J. Drew Lanham for an inspiring conversation.

Dr. Lanham will share insights from his work and books—including The Home Place, Sparrow Envy, and Joy is the Justice We Give Ourselves—followed by a chance to meet him and purchase signed copies.

This event is part of a week-long celebration (May 24–30) uplifting diversity, inclusion, and joy in birding across the Adirondack region. All are welcome!
