One of the cool things about the Adirondack Rail Trail is the wildlife you can see!

Turtles are laying their eggs right now. Our most common species are Snapping and Painted turtles. While they mostly hang out in the water, turtles need to lay their eggs on land in loose, sandy soils, and they really like the rail trail and its shoulder.

Help protect turtles by giving them a wide berth when youโ€™re riding or walking through, keeping pets away, and leaving nest sites alone. They may not be obvious, so pay attention when riding near bodies of water. Remember to enjoy them from a distance.

This Pride Month, the Adirondack Rail Trail Association celebrates the many people, communities, and connections that make the Adirondacks such a special place to live, visit, and explore.

Stretching through the heart of the Adirondacks, the Rail Trail connects towns, villages, businesses, neighbors, families, and visitors โ€” creating opportunities to gather, discover, and experience the beauty of this region together.

The trail is for everyone.

Whether you walk, bike, roll, ski, snowshoe, or simply pause to take in the fresh mountain air and quiet beauty around you, we believe the outdoors should be a welcoming space where all people feel safe, respected, and free to be themselves.

Nature has a unique way of bringing us together. Along the Rail Trail, we celebrate community, connection, and the diversity that strengthens the Adirondack Park year-round.

Happy Pride Month from the Adirondack Rail Trail Association. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ
