We were so happy to see our longtime volunteers, Susan and Rod Caughell, honored at the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation’s Champions of the Valley event!

For 21 years, Susan and Rod have spent their Sundays at SYV Therapeutic Riding Program, feeding horses, mucking stalls, and helping care for our herd. Their dedication and generosity mean so much to our program, and we couldn’t be more grateful for them!

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees, Dennis Beebe, Kros Andrade, Veronica Sandoval, Lupita Alvarado, Bella Sim, and Susan and Rod Caughell. We are so fortunate to have people like you giving back to our community! ❤️

We are so thrilled to share that Susan and Rod Caughell are the Santa Valley Foundation’s 2026 champions! They have been volunteering every Sunday since 2005 to care for the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program’s horses. Thank you to your commitment and service to not only our mission, but for many organizations throughout our community!

We are so excited to share that Susan and Rod Caughell have been selected as Champions of the Valley! ❤️🐴

A huge thank you to the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation for recognizing two people who truly represent what it means to serve your community.

Susan and Rod have volunteered with the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program every Sunday for over 20 years, helping feed and care for our herd and doing the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our program going. For more than two decades, they have simply shown up, week after week, year after year.

Their dedication has even become a family tradition, with their daughters and grandchildren joining them over the years. Three generations of the Caughell family have given their time to our program!

Susan and Rod are the kind of volunteers every nonprofit dreams of having. They never ask for recognition, but after more than 20 years of service, we can’t think of two people more deserving of it.

Thank you, Santa Ynez Valley Foundation, for honoring Susan and Rod and for celebrating the volunteers who give so much to organizations throughout our Valley.

And Susan and Rod, from all of us at SYVTRP, thank you for every Sunday, every feeding, every mucked stall, and every year you have continued to show up for our horses and our program. We are so lucky to have you. ❤️
