Compassionate Living is a 501c3 non-profit organization working for a world where no animal has to suffer at human hands. Through outreach campaigns, educational initiatives and community building activities, Compassionate Living works not only to relieve the suffering of animals, but to show how we can build a more sustainable, just and non-violent world, one where we can all prosper in peace, go

od spirit and vibrant personal health. Compassionate Living is a vegan animal rights organization focused on justice, the animals, the environment, inclusivity, and creating change with positive encouragement, education, and support. Along with general vegan education and events (both online and in-person), our three key areas of focus are the Humane Hoax Project, the Hope for the Animals Podcast, and the Ahimsa Living Project. Compassionate Living is also the sponsor of the Sonoma County VegFest- www.socovegfest.org

Sea "food" is Sea LIFE! Taking sea creatures from the oceans to be brutally killed is just another form of hunting. If you are against going into animal's homes and killing them for no reason, then you should also be against fishing. It's the same thing. Let sea life live and live vegan.

Cage-free eggs are now available at most grocery stores, a muffin lists cage-free eggs in the ingredients, and a restaurant touts cage-free omelettes on their menu. Is this a win for hens? We crack into this question with Amber Canavan examining PETA’s new white paper on cage-free egg systems.

Amber shared why PETA released this white paper, how cage-free facilities can actually create new and worse conditions for hens, and how humanewashing eases consumers concerns about the treatment of farmed animals. Amber and Hope both share first hand experience of witnessing cage-free facilities and the reality of cage-free egg farming.

Got 5 minutes? Listen to this Plant Based Briefing podcast featuring an article by Hope Bohanec, Executive Director of Compassionate Living. It's called Animal Liberation Is Part of the Social Justice Tapestry and explains why speciesism hold us back from recognizing veganism as part of the systemic oppression. Give it a listen and share.

Vegans are visionaries. We hold a vision of a nonviolent future where all animals are free from human imposed commodification, suffering, and killing. What if this vision was on the ballot and we could vote on it? That could be happing soon with the Oregon IP 28, a ballot initiative that would eliminate the legal exemptions that currently protect hunting, fishing, trapping, and farming from Oregon's animal abuse statutes.

David Michelson is the visionary heading up this historic effort and on this episode he shares insights into the campaign including why he decided to start it and what its passing would mean for animals. He also clears up some misconceptions about the campaign and talks about our vision as a movement and how we need to hold onto the hope for total animal liberation.

Let's update our language to reflect compassion and protection of sentient life. This common saying evokes unnecessary violence. Some like to updated it to say "feed two birds with one scone" because it rhymes, but bread is not healthy for birds. Can you think of another cliche that we can update?
