Troop 87 attended the Cuesta District Rendezvous, a reenactment of 1840's culture and practices. We had so much fun! We made butter from cream;we made Johnny cakes and fry bread; we did basketry, gold panning, saw blacksmiths making horseshoes. There was sheep shearing along with learning the benefits of lanolin and what processes lead to using the wool. It was a fun and informative weekend. Many of the staff and some attendees were dressed in period correct outfits. Knife throwing and hatchet throwing was also very popular.
We want to go back next year !!

Troop 87 headed to Jumbo Rocks Campground in Joshua Tree National Park. What a fabulous trip! Amazing rock formations and an incredible night sky. Stopped at UC Riverside to have lunch with our Eagle Scout Benji Theiss too ! Thanks to Sheldon Theis who was our grubmaster -- we ate like kings !
