Congratulations to Team Sanibel on an incredible showing at this year's Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb!

Our fellow Rotarians John Henshaw, James Evans, Eric Jackson, and Bill Harkey joined more than 1,000 climbers in conquering 106 floors (2,226 steps) in honor of our nation's first responders and military heroes. Of the 1,059 climbers who started the climb, 1,055 reached the top.

Beyond the physical challenge, Team Sanibel made an even greater impact by raising an outstanding $68,812 to support the mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Their efforts earned:
🥉 #3 in total dollars raised
🏆 #1 in fundraising per capita, averaging $4,580 per team member

A special congratulations to Team Sanibel's fastest climbers:
⏱️ Top Male: 20:43 (Age 51)
⏱️ Top Female: 29:42 (Age 67)

Thank you to everyone who climbed, donated, and supported this meaningful cause. Your dedication reflects the Rotary motto of Service Above Self and demonstrates the generosity and strength of our Sanibel community.

💙 Congratulations, Team Sanibel! We are proud of your commitment to making a difference

Last Friday, the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club welcomed Becky Boyd and Anna Johnson from Community Housing and Resources (CHR), who shared an important update on affordable housing efforts serving our island community.

From preserving workforce housing opportunities to addressing the evolving needs of those who live and work on Sanibel and Captiva, CHR continues to play a vital role in strengthening the fabric of our community. Their presentation highlighted both the progress that has been made and the challenges that remain as we work together to ensure our islands remain a place where people of all backgrounds can thrive.

Thank you to Becky and Anna for their dedication, leadership, and for keeping our Rotary members informed about this critical issue. We are grateful for the work CHR does every day to support the resilience and long-term vitality of our island community.

Rotarians recently volunteered with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) for a hands-on oyster reef restoration experience through the Sanibel Sea School Marine Lab on Tarpon Bay Road in partnership with the Cypress Lake Interact Club, led by Neeve Farrell and Kaelin Jackson. Wading into the waters together, volunteers helped restore critical oyster habitat that plays an important role in protecting our island waters, improving water quality, and supporting marine life.

The day was a wonderful opportunity to connect with and support the next generation of community leaders while highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship and protecting our sanctuary islands. From muddy shoes to meaningful conversations, the experience was a reminder that leadership also means caring for the place we call home.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference for our coastal environment! 🌊🦪

David shared his journey in science and research, including his work to reduce emissions in aviation, along with his path to becoming part of the Sanibel community.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by their experiences.
