Four strong women. One shared commitment to service.

These Sanibel leaders are connecting through Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club Kiwanis and giving their time, energy, and heart to help make our community stronger. From Community Housing & Resources and CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. to COTI - Committee of the Islands and the Sanibel Community Association "The Community House", their work reaches far beyond one group or one cause.

Together, they show the power of women helping women—and the lasting difference caring, committed leaders can make on Sanibel and Captiva.

Here’s to friendship, service, and the strength of women in our island community.

Guest commentary by Nicole Decker-McHale, executive director of Community Housing and Resources (CHR). CHR was formed in 1979 as a not-for-profit organization to address the growing need for affordable housing in the Sanibel and Captiva area. It also serves as the city of Sanibel’s housing foundation under the Affordable Housing Program established in 1983. CHR’s mission is to provides safe, quality, affordable housing for families and individuals who work in and serve our island communities.

Friday afternoon was filled with laughter, connection, and plenty of pizza as CHR staff and residents gathered at the CHR office for a fun community pizza party. Events like this remind us how special our small island community truly is—and why providing affordable workforce housing matters so much.

A special thank-you to John at Great White Grill for the delicious pizza. We truly appreciate your generosity and support. And thank you to everyone who came out, shared a meal, and helped create a greater sense of community at CHR.

We are so proud of one of our residents, Nathan Kastle, who was nominated for outstanding customer service at the Sanibel Recreation Center during the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau’s E Awards ceremony.

More than 50 employees from restaurants, hotels, preserves, recreation facilities, and other local businesses were nominated for their excellent service. At least two nominees were selected as winners.

Congratulations, Nathan! We are grateful to see one of our residents recognized for the kindness, care, and dedication he brings to our island community. Your hard work makes a difference!
