Thank you to Gabbi Markle, Development Manager at Camp Kudzu, for joining us this past Monday.

For 26 years, Camp Kudzu has given Georgia kids and teens living with type 1 diabetes something hard to come by: time where managing T1D is simply what everyone around you is doing too. Day camps, family camps, summer camp, weekend retreats, and a leadership development program — all built around education, independence, and being with other kids who get it.

Two ways to show up for them:

"Fifty-four years ago, a handful of people decided Sandy Springs deserved its own Rotary club.

We were chartered on January 13, 1972, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Buckhead. Since then, together we've put Service Above Self to work here at home — scholarships for local seniors, eyeglasses for students who need them, and dinners for the first responders who look after this city.

Fifty-plus years of People of Action in Sandy Springs. Still here. Still at it.

Clean out the medicine cabinet — our club, with the City of Sandy Springs and Sandy Springs Fire Rescue, helped bring secure, no-cost disposal of prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, and sealed sharps containers to Fire Station No. 1 (1425 Spalding Drive) and Fire Station No. 3 (6025 Raider Drive). Drop off Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. It’s quick and helps protect kids, first responders, and the Chattahoochee. Learn more: sandyspringsrotary.org

As the academic school year comes to a close, we had the honor of recognizing local Sandy Springs students as recipients of the Georgia Laws of Life Essay Contest!

One talented student even shared their essay with our club — and left the entire room inspired. These young people are a true reflection of the character and heart of our community. Sandy Springs should be so proud!

We were proud to honor Sandy Springs’ incredible educators at our recent Teacher Appreciation and Teacher of the Year celebration.

Representatives from all 10 public schools in Sandy Springs joined us to recognize top teachers and celebrate the progress happening in our schools.

Thank you to the educators who make a difference in the lives of students every day.

A fantastic time at the Annual District Conference! We were honored to attend, connect with Rotarians from across the district, and gather new ideas for service, leadership, and community impact.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to represent our club and look forward to putting what we learned into action. Service Above Self continues to guide all we do.

Thank you to the students of North Springs High School’s Shark Club for an inspiring presentation on your accomplishments and your heart for service. Your work to build kindness, engage the community, and lead projects that make a difference reflects the Rotary spirit of “Service Above Self.”

We loved hearing how Shark Club has grown from an idea into a student-led effort focused on community involvement, fundraising, and outreach. Thank you for sharing your story, your energy, and the many ways you are already making an impact in Sandy Springs.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs is proud to honor one of our own!

The E. Bentley, Sr. GRSP Leadership Award (2025–2026) has been presented to Joe Jones, Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, in recognition of his 35 years of service to the Georgia Rotary Student Program.

For those who may not know, the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) is a unique Rotary‑run scholarship program that brings international students to study for one academic year at Georgia colleges and universities. Through this experience, GRSP builds lifelong friendships, promotes cultural understanding, and advances Rotary’s mission of peace through education and international goodwill.

For 35 years, Joe has provided outstanding leadership and unwavering support to GRSP—helping connect students from around the world with our local colleges, families, and community. His dedication has touched countless lives and reflects the very heart of “Service Above Self.”
