When was the last time you talked with your healthcare provider about breast cancer screening? October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder to make room for that conversation. Your age, health history and individual risk help determine the screening plan that is right for you.

ONE WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER TO VOTE.

Georgia’s voter registration deadline for the November 3 general election is Monday, October 5. If you’ve moved recently—including to a new apartment or unit—changed your name or haven’t checked your registration lately, do it now; you don’t want to be surprised when you go to vote and learn that your voter registration isn’t up to date.

Check your status, confirm your address and update anything that needs fixing before voting begins.

Sandy Springs has adopted its 2026 Transportation Master Plan, laying out priorities for traffic, safety, walking, bicycling and transit over the next decade.

Councilmember Andrew Chinsky voted against the final plan, saying he wanted more emphasis on mobility within the city rather than moving cars through it. He also raised concerns about the plan’s timing and said its approval should take into account public input through the city’s ongoing comprehensive planning process. Chinsky has also been vocal about moving sidewalk projects forward more quickly, particularly on streets that still lack them.

Mayor Rusty Paul offered a different view. He argued that roadway investments remain important given Sandy Springs’ role in the regional transportation network and can help the city compete for federal transportation funding. He also pointed to projects such as the Hammond Drive improvements, which are designed to address traffic while supporting transit, walking and bicycling.
