We all go through the highs and lows of life, but we don't have to go through them alone! Spiritual companionship is the practice of being present, holding space, and caring for one another in community. Join us this fall for "An Introduction to Spiritual Companionship," and learn more about this communal and spiritual practice. Contact David at: david@forestofpeace for more information!

"Obsculta, o fili, praecepta magistri, et inclina aurem cordis tui..."
("Listen, my child, to the teachings of your master, and incline the ear of your heart to them...")

For nearly 1,500 years, these opening words of the Rule of St. Benedict have invited people into a way of life marked by simplicity, prayer, mutual listening, stability, humility, and hospitality.

In January 2027, we invite you to step beyond simply reading the Rule and into living it.

Benedictine Living is a unique retreat experience at the Forest of Peace that explores the wisdom of St. Benedict through a shared rhythm of prayer, work, silence, meals, and community. Whether you join us for the weekend or stay for the full week-long immersion, you'll have the opportunity to experience this living tradition in a contemporary setting.

Registration is open now!

Register before November 8, 2026, and receive 10% off the listed retreat price.

What might you discover by inclining the ear of your heart?

If you consider yourself a friend of the Forest--if you've sat among the trees, felt the movement of Spirit, meditated, laughed, eaten a meal, stayed the night, or thought of the Forest fondly in your heart--please consider becoming a monthly supporter. Your gift of any size can make a big difference. You can help provide a welcoming space for others, like Terry, who recently attended our Family Day:

"It was great being in the forest and being connected to nature. There was a light rain while we were walking in the woods, and it was just so peaceful. I felt connected to the trees and all the living things that were in the forest."

Make an impact today, and help preserve the Forest for all those, like Terry, and like you, who have come to love this sacred place.

On this day in 1980, in the chapel of the main house, the Osage Monastery-Forest of Peace was dedicated. Sr. Pascaline Coff was thrilled to see the Forest which had once been a vision in her heart and mind become a reality right here in the Osage hills. Since that time, the Forest has been a place of refuge, rest, renewal, and reawakening of the inner Light for people of many backgrounds and faith traditions. Happy birthday, Forest of Peace!
