Last Tuesday neighbors joined Our Homes Our Land for a workshop on the key social infrastructures needed to pursue community-owned land in the Eden Area. 🏘️

Join us tonight at 6 p.m. at Ashland Roots Center for OHOL to learn about The Fundamentals of Community Land Trusts (CLT’s). You will learn what CLT’s are about and their history. Bay Area neighbours will come and share their experience with community-owned land and housing in their communities. We will be joined by:

⚫ Ofelia Bello, a long time leader in East Palo Alto who now leads the Pahali Community Land Trust

⚫ Sandy Perry, a long time leader in San Jose and board vice present for South Bay Community Land Trust

Last week we had our first Our Homes, Our Land workshop at the Ashland Roots Center 🏘️🏡. About 25 community members gathered for an opening presentation and discussion led by Nestor Castillo, board president of Eden Community Land Trust. Nestor provided a historical look at how our relationships to the land have been altered and interrupted under capitalism, and how community ownership is a strategy for reclaiming that relationship.

These predatory junk fees need to go – and the first step is to educate ourselves, our community and the public officials that serve us! 🗑️💦

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday June 9, at 6pm for the Eden Municipal Advisory Council meeting taking place at San Lorenzo Library.

If you are impacted, we need you to share your story, educate the community and our political representatives about why we need a ban on junk fees now! ✊🏽Even if you’re not impacted, we need you too! 12 members of Eden Renters United trekked up to San Rafael on Saturday for the annual Bay Area Tenant Assembly hosted by . We had a blast connecting w tenants from around the Bay and sharing our work and lessons, and we learned a lot that will help us sharpen our block by block strategy in Eden. Hearts and minds are full.
