A huge thank you to Dr. Vela, the new CEO of the Family Resource Center for stopping by the Families United Navigation Center to personally congratulate us on being named their Nonprofit of the Year! 🏆

We truly appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our programs and recognize the impact Families United is making with children ages 0–5 and their families throughout the county. Supporting our youngest kiddos and helping families access the resources they need will always be close to our hearts. 💙

Our Families United team had such a great time at the Business Education Alliance’s (BEA) lunch symposium! 💙

It was wonderful connecting with our amazing Greater Stockton Chamber Stockton Chamber Of Commerce representatives and SUSD Stockton Unified (SUSD) leadership. We enjoyed learning about the growth of SUSD’s CTE programs and how schools and local businesses are creating more opportunities for students.

We had great conversations and lots of laughs at our table and to top it off, our business card was picked in the raffle—we won tickets to a Stockton Thunder hockey game! 🏒🎉

Thank you for welcoming us. We made some great connections and are excited to keep building community partnerships!

Almost 30 scholars…8th-12th Graders…Ten months of growth, discovery, and leadership. One unforgettable journey begins now. 💙💛

The Families United Youth Executive Leadership Academy launched with a room full of bright minds, proud families, and limitless potential. Over the next ten months, these young leaders will build confidence through career exposure, civic engagement, professionalism, and essential life skills…preparing them to lead with purpose wherever their futures take them.

Day 1 began in the Families United executive office, where scholars and their families gathered over a welcome breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A Stockton. The room quickly filled with conversation, excitement, and anticipation for all that lies ahead.

Dr. Chaun Powell, LCSW set the tone with a powerful message about becoming…the courage to grow, embrace your potential, and step fully into who you are meant to be. Dr. Vaughn and our team then brought that message to life through high-energy activities that strengthened confidence, connection, and community.

With intention and pride, each scholar took the Self-Reliance Pledge and received their first Key to Success and Leadership Passport stamp…symbols of the milestones they will earn along the way. To close the day, scholars wrote letters to their future selves, capturing their goals, dreams, and promises for the person they are becoming.

This is just the first chapter. Follow along as these scholars learn, lead, and grow into the leaders they were born to be. Their journey has begun—and the best is yet to come. ✨ 📸 Keith Welch Jr

The Families United Youth Executive Leadership Program is coming together, and now I’m calling on my COMMUNITY to help us pour into the next generation!

We’re preparing high school students for rooms they haven’t entered yet — exposing them to careers, leadership, life skills, mentorship, professionalism, and opportunities they may not even know exist.

And I need YOUR help making those experiences happen!

🔑 Become a mentor
🎤 Be a guest speaker & share your journey
🏢 Open your business/workplace for a student tour
📍 Host one of our Saturday class sessions at your space
🥞 Sponsor breakfast or lunch
🧴 Donate hygiene/personal care items

📍 Local and able to join us in person? AMAZING! That’s always ideal because we want our scholars making real connections.

🌎 Outside of the area? Don’t count yourself out! If you have knowledge, experience, or a story that could pour into our students and you’re willing to join us via Zoom, WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU! 💻

And you do NOT have to be a CEO, doctor, lawyer or elected official to have something valuable to offer. We want our students exposed to ALL pathways — trades, healthcare, public service, entrepreneurship, finance, beauty, culinary arts, automotive, technology, creative careers and MORE.

Sometimes ONE conversation, ONE mentor, ONE field trip or ONE person believing in a young person can completely change what they believe is possible. 💙

Dr. Vaughn has been an incredible part of the Families United team, bringing years of knowledge, experience, compassion, and dedication to the children, youth, and families we serve.

From traveling throughout California representing Families United, attending conferences and community events, to facilitating educational workshops, supporting families during IEP meetings, mentoring youth, and helping bring our programs to life. Dr. Vaughn continues to make an impact wherever he goes.

At Families United, our team has become more than coworkers—we’ve become a family, and we are grateful to have Dr. Vaughn as part of ours. 💙

🚨 IT’S OFFICIAL — REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! 🚨

Families United is excited to launch our YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY for high school students in grades 9–12! 🎓🔑

This is NOT your typical Saturday program.

We’re giving students access to the people, places, careers and experiences that can completely change how they see their future.

Because think about it…

Your student may be a future attorney, entrepreneur, nurse, elected official, chef, engineer, first responder, business owner or CEO — and they may not even know it yet.

Sometimes they simply haven’t been EXPOSED to what’s possible.

They haven’t met the person doing the job.
They haven’t walked into the building.
They haven’t sat at the table.
They haven’t had someone say, “You belong in this room too.”

🔑 That’s what this Academy is about.

Students will experience:

✨ Career exploration & hands-on exposure

🏛️ Field trips & behind-the-scenes experiences
💼 Leadership, professionalism & communication
📝 Resumes, mock interviews & career preparation

And when they graduate? They’ll leave with more than a certificate.

Yesterday was all about community. 💙

Families United was honored to be part of National Night Out at McDonald Park in Tracy, hosted by Community Partnership for Families and Southside Organization.

Because of the generosity of our supporters and partners, we were able to distribute 275 backpacks and 300 pencil cases filled with school supplies to help local students start the school year ready to learn and succeed.

There is nothing better than seeing the excitement on a child’s face and the relief on a parent’s. That’s what community is all about—neighbors showing up for neighbors.

A huge thank you to Community Partnership for Families and Southside Organization for bringing our community together and inviting us to be part of such a wonderful evening. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth, connected with our team, and learned more about the resources Families United provides.

Here’s to a successful school year for every student! 📚🎒❤️
