You don’t need us to tell you Southern California has a homelessness crisis. You see it — in your day-to-day, on your commute, across our community. And if you’re like us, you believe no one should be without a safe place to call home.

However, the answer to the crisis is more than just housing. It’s about providing holistic, long-term solutions to the cycle that keeps people on the streets. And at The Salvation Army, that’s what we’re all about.

When you give, your dollars fund critical programs and services that bring real, tangible support to neighbors fighting hard to leave the streets. This doesn’t just offer temporary relief — it offers stability that lasts.

What a day of faith, fellowship and fun! ❤️ Families from across Southern California gathered at The Salvation Army Kroc Center San Diego for Divisional Family Day 2026, bringing nearly 1,000 Salvationists together for a day filled with connection and celebration.

Colonel Mike Dickinson welcomed everyone as we kicked off a day of music, fellowship and plenty of fun. The Territorial Youth Chorus provided inspiring music, while families enjoyed activities throughout the Kroc Center, including field games, swimming, ice skating, rock climbing, basketball and more.

And of course, no family day is complete without good food! Chick-fil-A provided lunch, and the Kona Shave Ice truck kept everyone cool with refreshing shaved ice treats. 🍧

Thank you to everyone who came together to make this year’s Divisional Family Day such a wonderful celebration of our Salvation Army family!

Looking ahead starts with taking time to reflect on where we have been. At our annual Board Retreat, our Advisory Board gathered to celebrate the progress we have made and discuss the opportunities in front of us.

Together, we discussed the needs of our community, the impact of our programs, and how we can continue growing our reach and strengthening our work in the years to come.

Thank you to our Advisory Board members for your time, leadership, and continued commitment to helping us serve our community. And thank you to Southwestern Yacht Club for hosting us! ❤️
