Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Aug. 6 screening of “After Selma.”

We invite you to continue the momentum at our second Unite & Rise event on Aug. 13.

This program features “Standing on My Sister’s Shoulders,” a powerful documentary about the women of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.

Paired with After Selma, it gives a fuller picture of why Voting Rights Day matters and why protecting voting rights still requires all of us.

We’ll also hear from Darlene McDonald, Founder of the Selma Institute, followed by a brief invite of community allies sharing practical ways to prepare for the upcoming elections.

Don’t miss our free public event taking place tomorrow- Thursday, Aug. 6.

We will commemorate the anniversary of one of our nation’s landmark civil rights achievements - the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Starting at 5:30 pm at SLC’s Marmalade Library we will listen to Janessa Jimoh, executive director of Ignite! Utah.

Then we will watch “After Selma,” a 2019 documentary that explores the ongoing fight against voter suppression.
