Don't forget to stop by Center 50+ and visit our Canine Corps teams. They visit 2 days a week, 11am-1pm. Many of the teams also make monthly visits to local care facilities to spread some smiles and cheer. Canine Jane loves to have her belly rubbed and sometimes falls asleep!

The Friendship Brigade program’s Canine Corps is looking for more volunteers. Our mission is to help minimize feelings of loneliness and isolation among Salem’s seniors. A bonus is that you get to meet new people, do something fun with your dog, and you can talk a lot about your dog, and nobody minds! A dog’s temperament, training, and handler attentiveness are key factors here. Dogs must love people, be calm and be comfortable in new settings. They need to have basic training and acceptable public behaviors and be responsive to basic commands. Contact us on how to get started as a volunteer. Center 50+: 503-588-6303

Thank you to all our volunteer Card Makers for making beautiful cards! 2025 was a great year of creating and giving cards to seniors in need throughout the Salem and Keizer area.

Would you believe they meet once a month for 2 hours and created an estimated 5,000+ cards for various holidays, occasions, or just beautiful designs for distribution in 2025! WOW!
