It was started to provide a means for flexible administration and conservation of gifts of money and property from public spirited citizens, corporations or groups. The Internal Revenue Service has designated the St. Marys Community Foundation as a “public charity.”

The scope of the Foundation includes every aspect of St. Marys and the surrounding area’s vitality. The Foundation is aware of the s

ocial needs of the community. The Foundation serves to distribute funds to help the community meet religious, scientific, literary, educational, recreational and charitable goals. As a donor to the Foundation you can share in the goal of making our community a better place to live for all citizens. The Foundation also provides a way for your family’s name to live on forever.

REMINDER: Today - June 10, 2026 - is the DEADLINE for students who received a scholarship through the SM Community Foundation to turn in the Scholarship Voucher and proof of enrollment at a university. We have 18 students who are in the Class of 2026 and 13 college students who have NOT submitted anything despite repeated email reminders. Failure to submit the Voucher and documentation could result in the denial of a scholarship award. We do not want to see this happen, so students - please get your Voucher in today. If you need a Voucher, go to www.theSMCF.org and download a copy.

REMINDER - the deadline to submit the Scholarship Voucher and proof of enrollment at an accredited school is WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2026. Thank you to all of the students who submitted the form/documentation over the weekend. We are still missing forms from 29 students in the Class of 2026 and 27 students currently in college. If you need another Voucher, go to www.theSMCF.org to download a copy.

REMINDER: If you were awarded a scholarship from the St. Marys Community Foundation, you MUST complete the Scholarship Voucher form and return it to us on or by June 10th. So far, we have 37 members of the Class of 2026 who have not submitted the Voucher and 43 college students who have not done so. Please take a minute this weekend and complete the Voucher and scan it and documents from your college and email us: [email protected]. It only takes 10 minute or less to complete. Don't miss out on your scholarship because you didn't submit the Voucher form on time.

Today - June 1, 2026 - is the deadline to apply for a student loan from the SM Community Foundation. Applications are online at www.theSMCF.org, click on Student Loans and follow the links. You must apply from a computer desktop or equivalent; the app does not allow submissions by smart phone. We will send out approval letters later this week and ask loan recipients to schedule a time in July to sign the loan papers and receive a check.

SCHOLARSHIP VOUCHERS - you can drop off your Voucher and proof of enrollment at our office - 101 W. Spring St (the new city building). Our offices are on the 2nd floor. If we are not here, you may leave the documents at the 1st Floor City offices window and they will put them in our mailbox.

If you received a scholarship from the SM Community Foundation, you MUST complete and return the VOUCHER form on or by June 10th. If you received multiple scholarships, you only need to complete the Voucher form once. Please use black or blue ink or type the responses on the Voucher form. Responses written in pencil do not show up well when they are scanned. If you have any questions about the Voucher or need additional time, please contact us - [email protected]. We urge you to get them in as soon as possible and not wait until the last day. We would hate to see anyone lose out on a scholarship because they didn't submit the Voucher form on time. You can access the form at www.theSMCF.org, scroll down on the Home page to Scholarships and click on the Voucher button.

This is the LAST WEEKEND to submit a student loan application to the St. Marys Community Foundation. The application portal will close at midnight on June 1st. Go to www.theSMCF.org and click on Student Loans. You cannot use a smart phone to access the application; it must be from a PC.

REMINDER - if you were awarded a scholarship from the St. Marys Community Foundation - even a renewable scholarship - you MUST complete and return the VOUCHER form to us on or by June 10th. Also, you need to attach proof of enrollment at the college you will be attending. Voucher forms can be accessed at www.theSMCF.org on the Home page - scroll down to the heading Scholarships and click on the button for "SMCF Scholarship Voucher." Don't lose out on a scholarship because you didn't submit the Voucher form.

The SM Community Foundation offers low-interest student loans. No interest accrues while you are in college/graduate school, and then a 4% interest rate applies beginning 9 months after graduation or when you leave school. The deadline to apply is June 1st, 2026. Go to www.theSMCF.org and click on Student Loans. You must access the loan application on a computer, not a smart phone. We will send out confirmation letters to approved applicants by June 5th and schedule loan signing in July 2026.
