This year, MHS seniors have 6 new scholarships they can apply for. Two of these are from the Larry & Leila Dine Family:
The Engineering Excellence Scholarship - this scholarship is designed to support and motivate students to pursue careers in the metal casting and foundry industry by focusing on a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Metallurgy. Students must be enrolled in or accepted to Trine University in Angola, Indiana in a 4-year program for Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy and must actively participate in the Foundry Education Foundation and/ or the American Foundry Society. The scholarship is $1,000 and may be renewed annually based on academic performance, financial need and program duration.
The Trade Skills Excellence Scholarship is also sponsored by the Larry & Leila Dine Family and offers a $1,000 scholarship to students who pursue a career in high-demand skilled trades such as electrical, masonry, plumbing and HVAC fields. The scholarship is also renewable based on academic performance, financial need, and program duration.
For Tri Star students who wish to pursue a trade or vocational school after graduation, remember to keep the Carpenter Family Tri Star Career Compact Scholarship in mind. It is also new this year and is sponsored by the Rod and Barb Carpenter Family. It is available to students who attend Tri Star in Mercer County, Ohio - regardless of what high school they attend - and who wish to further their education at a 2 year or 4 year technical or vocation school. The Carpenter Family is offering three $2,000 scholarships for 2026.
The deadline to apply for all scholarships through the SMCF is midnight on March 8, 2026. Students - you have 27 days left to complete your applications before the portal closes.
