For our final Nurses Month spotlight, we're recognizing three of the nurse leaders helping shape care across Saint Therese: Jessica Gier, DNP, MSN, RN; Sandy McClellan, RN; and Morganna Moon, RN, MSN.

Together, they support clinical leaders across Saint Therese, helping strengthen quality standards, guide best practices, improve systems and processes, support education and training, and ensure residents receive exceptional care every day.

What makes their leadership especially meaningful is that all three began their careers providing direct care. All three started as CNAs before becoming nurses and advancing into leadership roles. That hands-on experience continues to influence how they mentor teams, solve challenges, and make decisions that impact residents and staff across the organization.

Their work, along with the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Lisa Kalla, RN, helps support the 171 Saint Therese team members who hold RN or LPN licenses across our organization.

While residents may not see all the work happening behind the scenes, its impact is felt every day through the quality, consistency, and compassion of the care we provide.

Thank you to Jessica, Sandy, Morganna, Lisa, and every nurse across Saint Therese for the expertise, leadership, and dedication you bring to our mission.

For nearly a year, Ascend Rehabilitation speech-language pathologist Lily Egan has been working alongside Beverly, a resident at Saint Therese of Oxbow Lake, after a stroke affected Beverly’s ability to communicate clearly.

Together, they’ve practiced conversation strategies, everyday interactions and personalized speech techniques to help Beverly communicate more confidently with the people around her.

Recently, another team member shared that hearing Beverly speak clearly “brought tears to my eyes.”

Moments like these are why speech therapy matters. Small victories can mean everything.

Thank you, Lily, for the compassion, patience and expertise you bring to residents each day.

At Saint Therese at St. Odilia, nursing is deeply personal. In this small, home-like hospice and palliative care community, nurses walk alongside residents and families through some of life’s most meaningful moments with compassion, comfort and dignity.

Mana Goytom, LPN, has been part of the St. Odilia team for 15 years. Originally from Ethiopia, she has always been drawn to caring for older adults and values the supportive team environment and close relationships built with residents and families each day.

Cindy Koehler, LPN, joined St. Odilia in 2020 and has more than 30 years of nursing experience spanning long-term care, hospice and assisted living. Much of her work centers on supporting families through the end-of-life journey, helping provide comfort, education and reassurance during difficult moments.

At St. Odilia, nurses are involved in every aspect of care, creating a warm, compassionate environment that feels more like home than a traditional care setting. The strong sense of teamwork and long-tenured staff reflect the deep commitment these nurses bring to residents and families every day.

This Nurses Month, we’re grateful for nurses like Mana and Cindy whose compassion, experience and presence bring comfort and dignity to those they serve.

Jana Schnellman, RN, LALD, found her passion for nursing almost by accident. After an earlier career and years spent raising her children, she returned to school and began a path that eventually led her to senior living, where she has now spent the past 15 years.

Today, Jana serves as Assisted Living Nursing Supervisor at Saint Therese of Corcoran, helping residents maintain their independence while enjoying life on their own terms.

For Jana, the meaningful moments are often the simplest ones: offering reassurance during uncertain times, getting to know residents and their families, or making someone smile with a favorite treat like ice cream or Twizzlers for breakfast. Through every interaction, she brings the Saint Therese values of Respect and Heartfelt Purpose to life.

This Nurses Month, we’re grateful for nurses like Jana whose compassion, kindness, and commitment help residents feel supported, valued, and truly at home.

During National Nurses Month, we’re highlighting members of the Saint Therese nursing team and the experiences that continue to shape the care they provide each day.

At Saint Therese of Woodbury, RN Gaynor Gibson and Director of Clinical Services/RN Kristin Stewart shared how nursing is rooted not only in clinical care, but also in relationships, compassion, and helping residents maintain independence and dignity.

For Gaynor, nursing has always been an opportunity to bring positivity and support to others through both medical care and human connection. Kristin emphasized the importance of beginning in hands-on caregiving roles, like CNA positions, to better understand residents, support fellow team members, and build a strong culture of care.

Both also spoke about the importance of creating meaningful relationships with residents and families in a more homelike environment.

Thank you to Gaynor, Kristin, and all of our nurses for the leadership, compassion, and dedication they bring to Saint Therese communities each day.
