I founded Locally Social Gives a few years ago because it gave me a better opportunity to help far more people, utilizing a non-profit and a board, than trying to make an individual impact.
As a result, in just a few years we have supported flood victims ($170,000 in 2024), community members in other financial emergencies, Captain Jason Gray and his family after he was shot in the line of duty, the family of Sheriff James Hemond after his tragic passing, and hosted “12 Nights of Christmas”- our toy giveaway to all local children, and even a few others.
Prior to that I really had dedicated a large part of my adult life to fundraising and giving back whenever possible. Umbrella, Kingdom Animal Shelter, Department of Children and Families are a few organizations that I feel passionate about supporting.
All I have ever wanted is to inspire others to do what they can to help, whenever they can, and to help when others are hurting.
Saturday afternoon, The St Johnsbury Elks Club honored me with their 2025-2026 Distinguished Citizenship Award. I am deeply humbled and very honored.
But, this award is not just for me. It’s for my husband, Ian, and our entire board of directors: Brooke Pierce, Brynn Evans, Mathew Ghafoori, Nancy Brochu and the forever missed Buffie Hegarty. This award is for our community as a whole. Without the giving and kind hearts, we couldn’t do anything. We couldn’t help anyone.
I’m thankful to the Elks Club for this recognition. It’s extremely motivating to continue on this path.
It feels good to do good. 💜💜💜
