Every story matters. Every voice has the power to create change. 💜

We’re looking for community members who are willing to share their stories of resilience, recovery, healing, or finding their way forward. Your story could help someone else feel less alone, inspire hope, or remind a survivor that a different future is possible.

You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and you do not have to share your name or identifying details. You also can submit a story and have one of our staff read it and it remains anonymous if wanted.

Join Umbrella and local artist and facilitator Lori Lee for Story Therapy, a creative writing workshop exploring the power of storytelling, reframing, and reclaiming our narratives.

Together, we’ll explore how the stories we tell about ourselves can shape how we see our experiences and how putting those stories into words can be a powerful part of healing and finding our voice.

This workshop is a meaningful lead-in to Umbrella’s Stories of Resilience & Recovery event in October, and we’d love to have you join us.

Yesterday was a wonderful day of learning, connection, and building safer communities! ✨

Our Associate Director, Henekis Stoddard, and Youth Advocate, Sydney Smith, spent the day training NEKCA Head Start staff through a six-hour Wholesome Bodies training focused on what it means to be a Safe Adult.

We were so grateful to have seven participants join us, including preschool teachers, housing case managers, and parent support staff. Together, they explored the important role adults play in creating safe, supportive environments where children and young people can feel heard, respected, and empowered.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up with open minds, thoughtful questions, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of the children and families they serve. We are so grateful for this partnership with NEKCA Head Start and the opportunity to learn and grow together!

🎶 Healing Together: A Lullaby Project Celebration Concert & Art Show 🎨

Join Umbrella’s Healing Together Project, Northwoods Music Collaborative, and Writers for Recovery for a special afternoon celebrating new songs and artwork created by community members through the Healing Together Project.

☀️ Umbrella Family Lake Day!

Last Thursday, our Umbrella staff took a little break from the office for our annual Family Lake Day! We spent the day soaking up the sun, enjoying the lake, eating good food, and spending some much-needed time together.

We’re so lucky to have such a wonderful team, and it was nice to slow down for a day and just enjoy each other’s company.

Nothing better than a summer day at the lake with the Umbrella crew! ☀️🌊
