Toddlers are not trying to be difficult - they’re trying to communicate the best way they know how. When words are still developing, their actions often speak for them. A tantrum might mean “You hurt my feelings,” while throwing toys could be a sign of frustration or a need for attention. Instead of reacting to the behavior, try to look for the message behind it. When we slow down and respond with patience and curiosity, we help build trust and understanding. Supporting their communication now lays the foundation for stronger emotional skills later.

Let’s remember: behavior is communication, especially in the early years. 💛

Through guided, parent-led conversations, participants share stories, exchange ideas, and leave feeling supported, encouraged, and connected.

Rooted in the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors Framework, Parent Cafés help build community, strengthen families, and empower parents as leaders in their own lives.

‼️Playgroup Registration opens at noon March 5, 2026 for the March 16, 2026 - May 14, 2026 Clinton County Community Playgroup sessions. ‼️

Playgroups are provided for Clinton County families with children from birth to 5 years of age and will be held at the CCRESA Educational Center located at 4179 South US 27 in St. Johns. Trained Parent Educators provide story time, music and movement, theme based activities, and resources for parents and families.
