💜 Thank you, Kiwanis Day Breakers, for inviting me to speak at your June 9th meeting and for sharing SAFE’s mission with your members.

I appreciate the opportunity to connect with community leaders and discuss how we can work together to support survivors in Columbia County. Thank you for your warm welcome and continued support of our community.

Nithish Thomas with SAFE talked to the DayBreakers on June 9th. In 2014 they changed from the Women’s Resource Center. SAFE is a confidential agency, and will help anyone that’s a victim of domestic violence & sexual assault. They have a safe house in Columbia County for victims to go and heal. They serve mostly women and children, but will help men get housing too. They offer art therapy classes for adults, and 1 on 1 art therapy for children. They have an advocate to help with court, and offer an ARIA- (relationship class) to educate in different types of abuse. They are working with local agencies to have a SANE (sexual assault) nurse available. SAFE has a 24 hour crisis line 7 days a week. Please call if you need assistance. 503-397-6161

Honored to have joined such an inspiring community at yesterday’s NAMI Walk for Mental Health. It was a privilege to speak on the importance of “Helping the Helpers” and to represent SAFE of Columbia County in supporting mental health, survivor advocacy, and community healing.

Mental health and survivor support go hand in hand. At SAFE, we know that healing requires safety, compassion, and strong community partnerships.

Thank you to NAMI, Columbia Community Mental Health, and everyone who continues to show up for this important mission. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more supportive community for all.
