The St Helens Lions Club had a great morning lending a hand to the Backpack Program. Along with two Kiwanis members and three community volunteers, we helped unload pallets of food purchased by the Backpack Program and delivered by the local food bank.

This teamwork helps make sure students in our community have reliable food for the weekends. Thank you to everyone who showed up to work together. Service is stronger when we do it side by side. 🦁💙💛

More about the program:

The St. Helens Lions Club proudly supports the "Backpack Program" that provides shelf-stable food to students in the St. Helens School District for the weekends. Each Friday during the school year, participating students receive a “Backpack” bag filled with two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and snacks to help ensure they have filling meals when school is not in session.

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

The St Helens Lions Club wants to do our part by providing local and national resources to our community. People who are exposed to adverse circumstances - including poverty, violence, disability and inequality - are at a higher risk of developing a mental health condition (source:World Health Organization) Life can be hard, you don't have to go through it alone.
