READ Association of Saginaw County Volunteer mentors work one on one with children in a structured program.

The READ Association of Saginaw County is a grassroots literacy organization whose mission is to help students improve their reading skills and discover the joy of reading. Children who participate in the READ program experience positive outcomes such as increased reading time and improved reading ability and academic performance. In addition to reading with students, volunteers provide a caring p

erson in a child's life, focus on individual strengths and development of the positive self esteem of each child, help improve the critical skills needed to become independent learners and foster a love of books. Over 1100 children benefited from the good works of the 500+ volunteers who participated in our literacy mentor program during this past school year in over 40 centers held in elementary schools, neighborhood centers, libraries and churches throughout Saginaw County. Maintaining a strong quality initiative that supports literacy and volunteerism while developing positive mentor relationships that promotes the success of all children are primary goals of our organization.

📖Through the Summer Mentor Program, students throughout Saginaw have access to a free one-on-one literacy program to help them keep up with their reading skills over summer break.

But we need your help! We are still searching for a few volunteers to fill in these spots at one of our sites:

☀️Tuesdays at Countryside Trinity Church at 10AM, 11AM, and 12 Noon. Program starts the week of June 29th and ends the week of August 10th!

🛻Freedom Parade - Saturday June 20th, starts at 11AM, begins on Ezra Rust, travels down Washington Ave and ends at Morley Plaza.
