At last night's meeting, IBEW 340’s VOLT and U.A. 447 celebrated securing the Regional Transit (RT) Project Labor Agreement — ensuring billions of dollars in union work stays right here in the Sacramento region!

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, IBEW VOLT members were out canvassing neighborhoods across Sacramento in support of Eric Guerra’s campaign for Sacramento County Supervisor – District 1.

We need to speak up and tell Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes that the Upper Westside is needed and she should support it, not oppose it.

The Upper Westside project impacts us, our JATC facility is located within this plan area.
The Upper Westside means:
✔️ Good-paying union jobs
✔️ Investment in workforce training and apprenticeships
✔️ Housing closer to downtown for working families
Projects like this don’t just build housing, they build careers and opportunity.

Let’s make sure decision-makers hear from the people who train and build this region.

The Upper Westside Project will be heard by the County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 28 at 2:00 PM.

I remain very concerned about how this project could impact Natomas and our region. There are still important questions from the City of Sacramento that have not been answered. There is no reason to rush a project of this magnitude.

I am asking the Board to delay a decision until a new Supervisor is in office—someone who will be responsible for overseeing the future of this project. Communication to the residents of Natomas has been lacking and we need to do better for our community.

The City has submitted two letters, the last in January, outlining concerns about traffic, water supply, schools, and the need for a full environmental review, including federal review under NEPA. We have been engaged in this process since 2019 and have continued to raise concerns along the way.

While we appreciate the ongoing conversations with County staff, many issues remain unresolved. The current review only looks at limited updates, while the rest of the project remains unchanged.

We need more time, more clarity, and stronger coordination between the City and County before moving forward.

Local 340’s VOLT teamed up with Rebuilding Together once again to help local homeowners by bringing electrical work back up to code.

It was a great day of giving back, putting the training and skills our members have gained through the union to work in our community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered their time to make a real difference for a very grateful homeowner. ⚡
