Today 4-H teens got a behind-the-scenes look at the people, offices, and resources that play a role in everyday life in their community, while learning how these same resources can help them as they become more independent.

Teens explored:
What a Judge Executive does and how Fiscal Court operates
Services available through the County Clerk’s Office
What happens behind the scenes in Dispatch
The roles and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Department
Careers in law enforcement and related fields
Operations of the PVA office
Banking basics, needs vs. wants, accounts, and investing
How the Health Department can serve them and their community

The goal was to prepare teens for what comes next. Whether it’s understanding how local government works, knowing where to go when they need help, exploring a career, or making smart financial decisions, knowing your community is an important part of preparing for your future.

A big thank you to Logan County Judge Executive Phil Baker, for hosting Logan County 4-H Teen Club for a day of learning, exploring, and becoming Beyond Ready for their future!

Now is the time to write it down! Achievement Applications are due Friday, October 23, 2026 to the Logan County Extension Office.

Logan County 4-H teens spent the morning at Lewisburg School for All in for Ag week, helping students learn about the agriculture opportunities available through 4-H!

Rickey Hall, Tanner Kash, Hadley Davenport, Mason Davenport, and Eli Sayne led hands-on stations focused on Livestock, Country Ham, and Crops, giving students a look at how they can get involved in agriculture through 4-H! Ky State Officer Rachel Wilson joined in to help with the stations as well!

We were also excited to have special guests from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and Kentucky Department of Education, along with Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture, Jonathan Shell.

It was a great day of connecting students with agriculture, 4-H, and the many opportunities available right here in their community!

Learning about safety is one thing - getting to experience it firsthand is another! Take a look at the Logan County Farm Safety Day!

Logan County 5th graders spent the day learning about important safety topics through hands-on stations and real-world experiences, including water safety, fire safety, grain bin safety, ATV and tractor safety, electrical safety, Stranger Danger, substance abuse prevention, 911 and CPR, and conservation.

From the farm to the home and everywhere in between, these experiences help our youth learn how to recognize risks, make safe choices, and know what to do when it matters.

We’re proud to be All in for Ag, during Kentucky’s All in for Ag Week! What better way to celebrate agriculture than by helping the next generation understand the people, equipment, resources, and safety practices that keep our communities and farms moving forward!

So… what have our 4-H’ers been up to lately? 🍀

A little bit of everything!

Showing, learning, and putting in the work at the Hog Show & Sale
Learning Tree Measurement, Tree ID, and Compassing at Forestry Field Day
Building leadership and teamwork skills
Hiking and exploring the outdoors

Lots of hands-on learning, new experiences, and plenty of time spent together! That’s what 4-H is all about, learning by doing!

And we’re just getting started! Our 4-H clubs are back to meeting, and we’ll be sharing more about our clubs and what they have been doing later in the month!
