The Salvation Army has been activated to support the City of Detroit's storm response efforts at the request of Detroit Emergency Management on behalf of Mayor Mary Sheffield.

Captain Shawn Sutter and the Downriver Corps will provide meals to residents at two senior high-rise facilities this evening and tomorrow. The Detroit Conner Creek Corps will also be open tomorrow as a cooling center and food distribution site for residents impacted by the storms.

We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside Shamika and her family through some challenging seasons, and we’re so grateful she’s allowed us to share her story.

This week, our team was out at Metro Detroit Youth Day!

We were honored to support volunteers with complimentary coffee and donuts while local students enjoyed a fun-filled day at Belle Isle. ☀️❤️

It was also special to honor the legacy of Ed Deeb, founder of Metro Detroit Youth Day and a former Salvation Army Board Member, whose commitment to Detroit’s youth continues to make an impact.
