It's official! Our sweet Tia has found her forever home and is starting a beautiful new chapter as Clover! 🍀❤️
*
Last Saturday, she went for her home visit and meet-and-greet with a wonderful family, and she absolutely nailed it! Her new home comes with 13 acres to explore, a canine sibling, and an entire flock of chickens to keep life interesting. 🤣🐔🐾
*
Now, Clover is settling into life with a family who absolutely adores her, and we couldn't be happier for this girl. Moments like these remind us why rescue is so special. Every dog deserves the chance to find their people, feel safe, and finally call somewhere home. 🥹🤎

Congratulations to Clover and her new family! Thank you for opening your hearts and home to a rescue dog. We can't wait to see all the adventures ahead for this lucky girl! 🍀

For over 10 years, Annette has been a dedicated part of our RER family, opening her home and heart to Rotties in need. Through the ups and downs, she has continued to show up for these dogs time and time again.

Annette brings so much experience and compassion to our rescue. Beyond fostering, she’s always willing to help guide and support other foster families, share her knowledge, and step up when another dog needs a safe place to land. When a foster finds their forever home, Annette is often ready to welcome the next dog who needs her.

Her commitment goes beyond simply caring for a dog. She helps make our entire foster program stronger, and we are incredibly grateful to have her as part of the RER family. 🐾

Halloween can be fun for us, but all the extra excitement can be a lot for our dogs. 🎃🐾
*
A few reminders to help keep your pup safe:
*
🍫 Keep candy out of reach. Chocolate, sugar-free candy, and other Halloween treats can be dangerous for dogs. Keep the candy bowl somewhere they can't get into it.
*
🚪 Watch the front door. Constant doorbells and people coming and going can be stressful, and an open door can be an easy escape route. Keep your dog somewhere secure if they need a break.
*
🕯️ Be careful with decorations. Candles, cords, small decorations, and anything they could chew or swallow should be kept safely out of reach.
*
👻 Don't force a costume. If your dog isn't comfortable wearing one, skip it. If they do wear one, make sure they can move, breathe, see, and hear normally.
*
🏷️ Check their ID. Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are current in case they do manage to slip out.
*
🤎 Give them a safe space. Some dogs love the excitement, while others would rather spend Halloween somewhere quiet and cozy. Pay attention to their body language and let them opt out if they're overwhelmed.
*
And remember: your dog doesn't need to dress up, greet every trick-or-treater, or participate in the festivities to have a good Halloween.
*
Sometimes the best Halloween is a quiet night, a full bowl, a favorite toy, and their person nearby. 🐾🤎
*

Adopting a rescue dog is exciting, but it's also a big commitment. 🤎 Before you apply, we want you to know what you're signing up for.

Rescue dogs come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some settle into a new home quickly, while others need more time to understand that they're safe. A change in environment can bring out behaviors you may not have seen when you first met them.
*
That's why patience, consistency, and realistic expectations matter.
*
Be prepared to provide more than food and a place to sleep. Your new dog may need training, exercise, mental stimulation, structure, socialization, and time to build trust.
*
And remember: every dog is an individual. Even two dogs of the same breed can have completely different personalities and needs.
*
Most importantly, don't expect an instant connection. Sometimes the best relationships aren't built in a day. They're built through routines, patience, trust, and all those little everyday moments.
