Vocational discernment does not always come without fear. 🧭 Joel shares that the end of a relationship was a difficult experience, but it also helped him grow emotionally, mentally, and spiritually 🌱, and learn to rely more on God. As he thinks about the path ahead, he recognizes that the ongoing learning can feel overwhelming. His response is simple: breathe, trust, and hand his fears over to God, one step at a time.

Let us accompany Joel in prayer 🙏 as he continues his discernment. For Hispanic Catholic organizations in the United States: how can we offer young people safe spaces to talk about their fears and discern without pressure?

Saint Martin de Porres: Charity That Builds Bridges 🤝

In a society marked by inequality, Saint Martin de Porres put his gifts at the service of those who needed them most. He cared for the sick, accompanied people living in poverty, and shared what he had without distinction. His life reminds us that every person’s dignity deserves care and respect. 💛

His example also invites us to reflect on how we serve today. For Catholic organizations, charity is not just about meeting an immediate need; it means drawing near with humility, listening, and working toward communities where everyone can participate. 🌱

What bridge can your community help build so that no one is left out? 🌉

Discernment also means taking a step even when you’re afraid 🙏

Sometimes we feel a persistent restlessness that keeps coming back. Instead of ignoring it, we can bring it to prayer 🙏, talk with a priest, and seek guidance. We don’t need to have all the answers to begin discerning.

In this conversation, Joel Theus helps us learn more about the formation process and how sharing our faith in community 🤝 can help us grow, whatever path we eventually discover. As Joel reminds us, every vocation is a call to love and serve ❤️; it’s not about comparing one vocation with another, but about listening to God freely.

How can we accompany those discerning their vocation without pressuring them, while helping them listen with confidence? 🤔

✨ Let the Light shine through: we are all called to holiness

On the Solemnity of All Saints, we celebrate those who allowed God’s love to illuminate their lives. They were not perfect or distant people; they were men and women who, with their gifts and frailties, walked with Jesus and lived the Beatitudes in everyday life. 🙏

Today, we too can be “saints next door”: people who build peace 🕊️, practice mercy, and accompany those most in need. For Catholic communities and organizations, this call is an invitation to create spaces where every young person can discover their gifts, grow in faith, and put them at the service of others. 🤝

What concrete gesture can help your community let the Light of Christ shine through? ✨

Discernment also means learning to trust

A new episode of the 🎙️Unfinished podcast is out! This time, we talk with Joel about his vocational calling 📢: How do we recognize what God is calling us to do? Joel’s story reminds us that a vocation doesn’t always become clear overnight. Sometimes it begins with questions, fear, and a desire to understand the faith more deeply 🙏. Through prayer, silence, and accompaniment, we can take concrete steps without having all the answers.

In serving the most vulnerable, we also encounter God. The experience of serving and listening to their stories can open our hearts, help us appreciate what we have, and show us new ways to love. Discernment doesn’t mean having everything figured out; it means continuing to walk with trust and openness.
