San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) invites you to attend the Access Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting. The AAC provides a forum for seniors and individuals with disabilities to receive updates on RTD’s programs and services, and to share their experiences and feedback. RTD staff will be present to answer questions and address any concerns about transit or programs. Your input helps us make transit better for everyone!

Last week our CAABVI Board of Directors (Shellena Heber, Shari Roeseler, Sarah E. Orth, Angie Rowe, Elsie Hirata, and Lynn Dubinsky) met in Sacramento for their Annual Board Retreat. With current funding cuts for services to individuals who are visually impaired and those with disabilities, it’s more important than ever that CAABVI is working diligently to ensure that services for all Californians who are blind and visually impaired are sustained. We are very excited about the strategic path set in place for CAABVI’s work ahead and look forward to updating all our member agencies soon!

The City of Stockton - Government seeks public comment through September 17, 2026 on its Draft ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. CCBVI is grateful to the Antone and Marie Raymus Foundation for the very generous $6,833.00 grant for a HumanWare BrailleNote Evolve 32, a braille notetaker that works with Windows. The device allows real braille input and output, without the need for a laptop, screen reader, phone service. The portable affords full use of Windows apps, e-mail, and the web, but with a simpler, braille focused KeySoft interface.

Thank you, Raymus Foundation, for once again helping CCBVI achieve its vision to provide the infomation, tools, and resources that empower and inspire people with blindness and low vision to achieve their full potential.

Dear Friends,

As some of you may have heard, due to unforeseen circumstances CCBVI has been looking for a new location to call home. We are excited to inform you that we have found a wonderful spot that will allow the agency to continue serving blind and low vision persons in San Joaquin County. Our new location is 1035 West Robinhood Drive, Stockton CA 95207.

In this new location our staff will be able to expand and continue offering programs to current and new clients. Here are some of the highlights of our new location:

• Increased number of private offices for Instructor one-on-one training
• Assistive Technology space with multiple computer stations
• Dedicated computer area for client use
• Mini studio apartment for Independent Living Skills training
• Space for social gatherings (upon reservation), keeping our drop-in days on Wednesdays and Thursdays
• Two RTD Hopper bus stops in close proximity
• Multiple restaurants to choose from within walking distance for training or leisure time
• Close to San Joaquin Delta College
• Ten-minute walk to Sherwood Place and Weberstown Mall

We anticipate moving sometime in October. As the physical move is implemented it is expected that services will be unavailable for a short period of time. Staff will work very diligently to keep this period to a minimum and will update all clients and community members with additional details as they are worked out.

We look forward to seeing all of you at CCBVI’s new home!

Congratulations, Sara Hauck, one of CCBVI's orientation and mobility instructors, on passing the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) exam and becoming a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)! Way to go, Sara!
