Your CSEA Team was back at the table with the State this week, and we are happy to report that significant progress was made. Both sides came to the table with the goal of reaching an agreement and your CSEA Team felt that the State recognized your hard work and dedication and the reality of the current economy in a meaningful way.

While we did not reach agreement, we have more dates next week and are hopeful a deal will be reached that recognizes the hard work of csea members across the state.

Your team was back this week fighting with the State for your next collective bargaining agreement.

Your CSEA Team continues to fight for many contractual enhancements throughout the contract and although the overall discussions are still very fluid, we can report that there have been wage and health insurance proposals.

We obviously cannot get into specifics, as all discussions are still in the context of an overall agreement. However, we can report that the initial wage proposals, while not what we want, exceed wage proposals from the previous two contracts. Further, there was nothing shocking in the state’s health insurance proposals.

There is still a long way to go to get to an agreement that recognizes and respects the hard work CSEA members provide throughout the state. But the most recent days your CSEA team spent with the State were productive.

We are scheduled to be back with the State on April 27th, where your CSEA Team will continue to fight for the best contract that acknowledges the hard work and dedication CSEA members provide every day.

New York’s State Senate and Assembly have passed a budget extender to keep state government running through April 7.

Most importantly, the extender includes funding to ensure CSEA-represented Executive branch members on the Institution payroll continue to be paid on time, with no disruptions or delays.

A final state budget is still being negotiated and CSEA is continuing to monitor developments closely while advocating for the priorities that matter most to members.

We’ll keep you updated as budget negotiations continue.
