🚒 Rome Fire Department – August Statistics 🚒

August was another busy month for the members of the Rome Fire Department. Our crews continued to answer the call and serve the Rome community.

🔥 5 Reported Structure Fires
🔥 1 Working Fire
🚗 29 Motor Vehicle Accidents
🚑 457 EMS Calls

With 4,841 total calls for service so far this year, our firefighters continue to answer the call around the clock.

We’re proud of the dedication and professionalism our members demonstrate every day. Thank you to our firefighters, dispatchers, fellow first responders, and the Rome community for your continued support.

🐾🚒 KITTY UPDATE! 🚒🐾

We’re happy to report that the little kitten rescued last week by members of Engine 2 is doing great!

Today, our furry friend made a trip to the veterinarian and received a clean bill of health. He is estimated to be approximately 5 weeks old — and we can officially confirm that it’s a boy! 🐱💙

Most importantly, he is already living his best life with the wonderful Good Samaritans who stepped up to give him a safe and loving home.

And now for the big news… our little rescue has officially been named Billie Jean! 🎶🐾

Please avoid Rome Taberg Rd in the area of Walmart. Our members are on the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the area. The road is currently closed in both directions.

Engine 2 Comes to the Rescue 🐈🚒

This morning, Engine 2 was dispatched to an unusual rescue after a kitten became trapped inside the base of a crosswalk signal.

The kitten was first discovered Oneida County Sheriff’s SPO Deputy Eric Fabrizio, who requested assistance. Members of Engine 2 were able to safely open the base of the signal and rescue the frightened little feline.

A special thank you goes out to the kind Good Samaritans, Angie Townsend and Tina Gonzales who stepped up to take the kitten, get it cleaned up, and provide it with a safe and loving home.

Calls for service come in all shapes and sizes, and we’re always happy when they end with a happy ending! ❤️🐾

Members of the Rome Fire Department proudly participated in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Central NY this morning.

We came together to honor the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, and to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s mission of honoring and supporting our nation’s heroes.

We’re proud to stand alongside our brothers and sisters in all branches of service and never forget those who gave everything. 🇺🇸 🚒

🔥🚒 Big Jay’s Pizza — Thank You for Supporting Fire Prevention Week! 🍕

The Rome Fire Department was proud to present Big Jay’s Pizzeria with a custom fire helmet as a special thank-you for their incredible support of our Kickoff to Fire Prevention Week 2025!
The Rome Fire Department teamed up with the Rome School District for a Fire Prevention Week coloring contest, with the winning class earning a pizza party from Big Jay’s.
But Big Jay’s decided to take their generosity one step further. When John Joy School was announced as the winner, Big Jay’s didn’t just provide pizza for the winning class — they generously donated pizza for the entire school!

That kind of community support means so much to our department, our schools, and especially our kids. Thank you, Big Jay’s, for going above and beyond and helping us make Fire Prevention Week a memorable celebration for everyone! 🚒

A big thank you to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired - CABVI and their Function Better program for visiting our firehouse today!

We enjoyed giving everyone a tour, showing off the firehouse and apparatus, and most importantly, talking about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

We appreciate you spending time with us and allowing us to share some important safety information with your group. It was great having you!
